Fire Cause and Determination
We had a Lieutenant from the fire marshalls office come in and talk to us about what they do, what our role is in discovering valuable information upon arrival, evidence preservation, preplan fire inspections, etc.
It was a fun, but somewhat long day.
Fun fact.....for arsons and pyros
A trailer is the trail left from a chemical accelerant used to start a fire from a distance. (i.e. creating a trail of gasoline from where you want the fire to be to the safe distance where you intend to start it). Dryer sheets leave no trailer, making it virtually impossible to find out if the fire was started at the site, or from a distance away.
