Week 14: Day 2

0700 PT.

We ran through some scenarios and practicals...nothing too exciting happened until just after lunch. Typically we have 1 hour for lunch, but today we only had 45 minutes. Some people didn't pay attention to the time we were told to report back and assumed we had an hour from the time we were released. At 12:30, when we were supposed to be fully dressed and at our next stations, some people were still getting dressed. When the instructors came in, they were not pleased.... I was fully dressed in all my gear and my air pack (as were a lot of other people). We had to do a few pushups, then we were told to "hit the tower" and we had 4 minutes to get back to the high bay. Needless to say we didn't make it to the tower and back in 4 minutes. When we got down from the tower, we were directed over to the telephone poles we have been carrying around. We split up into groups and carried 2 poles back to the high bay.

Once we returned with the poles, we set them down on the grass outside the high bay. We then went "on-line," meaning we were on air, and were instructed to "chop" the telephone poles. The downside to this is we only had SLEDGE HAMMERS!!! We were chopping a telephone pole with a sledge hammer....it doesn't really work too well. We continued to do that for a while, and switching occassionally. After a while, we were then told to run a lap around the Academy, and we had 3 minutes to complete it. Upon getting back, we then started to "chop" the poles again. This fun little exercise is known as "Chop 'till you drop."

After we finished with our little exercises we inflicted upon ourselves, we went back into our practicals. We performed some rescues, structure searches, etc.
