Week 14: Day 5

We did practicals up to lunch. After lunch, we did a drill called "Box to Box." This is a drill that all recruits must complete once in order to graduate.

You start off at a designated position, and must carry the hose and nozzle 50 feet to a marked box (Box #1). Once at Box #1, you must position yourself and begin flowing water in a controlled manner for 30 seconds. Once you reach the 30 second mark, you must then advance another 50 feet (while flowing water in a controlled manner) to Box #2. Once you reach Box #2, you must position yourself and continue to flow water for 30 seconds.

All but two recruits (of the 10 that were healthy and participating) completed the drill. The two that didn't complete it struggled.....they had to drop the water pressure significantly in order for them to be able to advance while flowing water. Both have also struggled during practicals and may meet the end of their recruit school next week during midterms.

Week 14 is complete!! We have about 45 actual days of work left....and the days are ticking down.

Coming up on Monday, we have CAR FIRES!! We will get to torch cars and then put them out. Tuesday, we will enter the Flashover simulator!! It should be a great beginning to the week.
